Prime, The Prayer of the Rushing Man

starring: Ramsey Robinson
director: Lauralee Farrer
principal writer: Lauralee Farrer
principal cinematographers: Abe Martinez, Jordan McMahon

story: Prime is the name of the hour of prayer in the Benedictine tradition that marks the start of work.

Prime, the start of work, is the hour of morning described as “the drumbeat” of the day. Full of energy and challenge, it is the hour where we must choose the course of our lives. In “The Prayer of the Rushing Man,” Prime is both chased by and driven toward his desire to live a successful life, true to his dreams. In the pursuit of that, however, he drifts further from the things he most reveres, putting himself at odds with his own integrity while in the pursuit of it. Allowing himself to be incrementally dishonest with family and friends, he loses his way, leading to a betrayal that shocks him awake. In our imagination, the character of Prime stands at a crossroad with a loaf of bread in one hand and a skull in the other, choosing the course of his own future, and of those impacted in it.
